Excellent article by Dan Vevers, Chief Reporter of the Scottish Sunday Mail.
Scottish banknotes are seen by many Scots as part of their national heritage and identity.
Since the Declaration of Arbroath in 1320 - “It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours, that we are fighting, but for freedom – for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself” - Scots have had a strong belief in their need to preserve their freedom.
For centuries, Scottish banknotes have been seen as one of the bulwarks of that freedom. Not nostalgia; genuine pride in something worth the fight.
Like Payment Choice.
