Staggering quote from Bank of England here:
“Even in the UK, there will be times where networks are down and you can only be paying in cash.” Victoria Cleland of Bank of England said “that consumers want cash to be there but they’re not necessarily using it”
“Not necessarily using it”?
Keeping cash at home IS “using it”.
Cash is “used” as:
Keeping cash at home is “using it” as a store of value, which the public EVERYWHERE have been doing for more than 2500 years.
Very worrying that the Bank of England - which is working with the HM Treasury and Financial Conduct Authority, on the so-called “National Payments Vision” - is not clearly and unequivocally supporting long-established and legitimate uses of cash.
Never mind.
The Payment Choice Alliance, working tirelessly on behalf of the British public, will ensure cash always has the strong voice it deserves.
Listen to us is listening to the British public, so you can’t go wrong, Keir Starmer and Rt Hon Rachel Reeves.
