Cash Has A Vital Role In Maintaining UK National Security

Posted on: 02/06/2025

The UK Government announces a “Defence Review” and the creation of at least six more armament factories.

However, it is not just shells and missiles needed to protect the British public.

Nordic Governments - and, more recently still, the Netherlands Authorities - have moved quickly to advise the public to keep cash at home as a defence against cyber attacks and other systemic threats.

Sweden and The Netherlands, with very active Central Banks - Sveriges riksbank and De Nederlandsche Bank respectively - are now swiftly moving to ensure that there are laws in place to guarantee the cash the public are being advised to keep at home MUST be accepted. Denmark and Norway already have such legal measures in place.

All of the Governments involved realise the obvious - there is no point having cash at home for “emergencies”, if it is not guaranteed to be accepted by shops and other businesses.

There is no way Keir Starmer can avoid this issue.

UK Veterans Minister Alastair Carns told the Payment Choice Alliance recently that cash is vital to the National Security of this country.

The British Prime Minister needs to pay heed to what is happening in the UK’s neighbours - and to listen to his own Minsters.

Legislation to guarantee cash acceptance is needed NOW, in 2025.
