A quote:
“On April 7, Abdullahi Musa Huseini, a make-up artist also known as Amuscap, was sentenced to six months in prison for throwing 100,000 naira, worth £50, at his wedding.”
Such “cash throwing” was long a tradition at Scottish weddings, in a country whose residents are famed for their generosity…
This action by the Nigerian government is part of a long-term effort to turn Nigeria into a “cashless” society, against the wishes of the Nigerian public.
The detention of Mr Huseini and several other high profile “offenders” is a crude attempt to frighten the rest of public into obeying a law that should have no place in any democracy.
The public will probably keep on throwing their cash, if they so wish - whilst also no doubt carefully considering at the next national election the option to throw out a government that is so obviously engaged in a “war” against cash.
