Kate Osborne, the Labour MP for Jarrow and Gateshead, Talks to the PCA About the Importance of Cash, Payment Choice - and Banking Hubs

Posted on: 04/03/2025

Kate Osborne is a great supporter of cash, Payment Choice - and Banking Hubs. None of this is surprising.

Kates constituency has over 70,000 registered voters, many of whom need or want to use cash. They are part of the huge group of over 40 million voters who are demanding that a UK law is put in place in 2025, to guarantee their right to use their cash, when and where they choose.

When it comes to Banking Hubs, Kate Osborne believes her constituency needs several. There is now only one bank branch in Jarrow - and none anywhere else to meet the community financial services needs of the 70,000 adults Kate represents.

Jarrow used to have more than one bank branch and other towns in Kates constituency, such as Hebburn and The Boldons, were also served by the High Street banks.

Kate would like to see a Banking Hub in every community that previously had one or more bank branches.

Cash Access UK, now owned by the Big Five High Street banks, clearly has a lot of work to do to provide Banking Hubs in Jarrow and Gateshead East - and every other constituency in the UK!
