A Payment Choice Act will make it VERY easy to CHOSE to live a CASH ONLY life!

The first sentence of this The Independent article is:

“Like any self-respecting 20-something I don’t use cash.”

Of course, it is very odd to think that “self-respect” can be gained by going “cashless” - but, in any case, the statement is completely wrong in terms of no “20-somethings” using cash.

Many young people DO use cash.

The YouGov survey in June 2023 revealed that around 20% of 18-24 years olds use cash every day or several times a week.

The same survey showed that 1/3rd - 33% of all adults use cash on the same basis.

1/3rd of British adults is actually 18 MILLION people - not the five million mentioned in this article.

The same survey revealed that only 3% of UK adults NEVER use cash - and that 71% of British adults ( around 40 million people) want a law to guarantee they can use their cash, when and where they choose; a Payment Choice Act.

This article highlights the difficulty of using cash today. The problem with cash acceptance can only be ended by the passing of a Payment Choice Act - and that is what the Payment Choice Alliance is determined to see happen before the end of 2024.
