“Universal” App Does NOT Work For Cash Users!

Lilian Greenwood, the Minister for the future of roads, is the only MP actually mentioned as backing this “Universal Parking App”.

Lilian is quoted as saying that this app will be introduced at “no cost to the tax payer”. BUT what the Minister does NOT say is at “no cost to motorists”.

Why?

Because, as the AA rightly makes clear, “those opting to pay by app should take note that doing so could be more expensive as administration costs are added to the rates.”

And those “administrative” costs can be whatever the operators fancy imposing.

One way or another, motorists will end up paying for the development of this app, genuine “administrative” costs PLUS anything else that keeps profits increasing.

An AA survey revealed that 40% of drivers continue to prefer using cash for their parking, more than favour any other payment method.

The PCA told Department of Transport officials face-to-face two years ago that creating a “Universal Parking App” would NOT be providing genuine Payment Choice to the British public who want to use cash.

Time for this British government and its regulators to start listening.

The restoration of winter fuel payments is not the only flawed policy requiring a U Turn.
