Switzerland to have Cash Referendum- Why Not The UK?
Posted on: 19/01/2026In March 2026, a Referendum on cash will be conducted in Switzerland.
Since the majority of the Swiss public want to have the option to use cash - to retain Payment Choice - the most likely outcome is:
“Yes to an independent and free Swiss currency with coins or banknotes (Cash is freedom)”
A UK Referendum would deliver exactly the same outcome.
Which is why it is unlikely the British public will ever be offered one!
