In Slovakia, businesses are urging customers to use cash to avoid new bank charges. Isn’t it wonderful that this option exists?
Without cash being available as an option, banks and card schemes can basically charge what they like.
Which is no doubt why, in July 2023, the Slovakian Government took the step of strengthening the constitution to guarantee that the public would have their cash accepted, when and where they choose to spend it.
Why should the British public not deserve the same guarantee that their cash is accepted as the Slovakian public?
Or, for that matter, the public in Belgium, Denmark, France, Spain and Norway?
The governments in those countries have understood a very simple fact : there is no point in the public having access to cash if that cash cannot be used for payments.
Time for the British Government to smell the coffee; and make sure the public can buy it - and EVERYTHING else - using cash!
