Useless “Process” For Maintaining Cash Access!

Posted on: 29/09/2025

What a terrible “process” to get a Banking Hub.

A MP bumps into the CEO of LINK Scheme Ltd at a “do” in Parliament, one thing leads to another - and Golspie, a town with a population of only 1300, secures a “review” of “access to cash”.

Best word to describe this?

FARCE.

When YouGov conducted a survey of MPs recently, they found that 98% of MP’s believe that every town that has lost all of its bank branches should AUTOMATICALLY get a Banking Hub - and 97% of MP’s believe that Banking Hubs should have 24/7 ATMs (95% of existing Banking Hubs have NO ATMs).

THOSE PERCENTAGES EQUATE TO MORE THAN 600 MPs.

So why don’t the 600 + MPs who support the automatic allocation of Banking Hubs, instead of hoping to bump into the LINK CEO, simply force legislation through parliament?

Jamie Stone, the MP who did the “bumping” for Golspie, represents a constituency with 74,000 voters. He had a majority of 10,000 at the last General Election.

Why should an elected Member of Parliament have to grovel to get an “access to cash” review?

THIS IS AN AFFRONT TO DEMOCRACY.

Time for the 600 plus MPs who support the automatic provision of Banking Hubs in every town that loses its last bank branch to simply push a Private Members Bill all the way to the Statute Books.

Or - much easier, Keir Starmer - you, as Prime Minister, could simply adopt the automatic provision of Banking Hubs, with 24/7 ATMs, as Government Policy.

That would see at least 2000 Banking Hubs provided around the UK - and enable MP’s to get up off their knees when meeting those who are currently wrongly empowered to decide the fate of cash services in the UK.

The residents of Golspie WANT - and DESERVE better - and so do another 50 million British adults who are currently seeing cash squeezed out of their lives against their clearly stated wishes!
