The sign in the photograph is in one of the car parks adjacent to Stockport Railway Station.
All of the car parks near this station seem to be operated by National Car Parks, though the sites may in some cases be owned by the local authority.
It is now impossible to pay for parking at this busy station using cash, with frightening consequences for societal exclusion.
Let’s be frank.
This imposition of “cashless” by National Car Parks is a NATIONAL DISGRACE - and the owner should be very ashamed.
The owner in question is Park 24, a Tokyo based organisation that operates car parks in 8 countries.
The irony here is that cash is very popular in Japan and they wouldn’t dare impose “cashless” on their home turf - BUT they think they can get away with making the British public victims of their crass policy.
The Payment Choice Alliance be writing to the Rail Minister to demand immediate action to stop “cashless” being imposed at stations around the UK.
