The great news for Peter - and everyone else who wants to use cash - is that such a campaign already exists!
The Payment Choice Alliance, working on behalf of the 40 Million British adults who want the legal right to use their cash, when and where they choose, is already on full power! Rachel Reeves, our bright, shiny new Chancellor of the Exchequer, has already received a letter from the Alliance pointing out the need for a UK Payment Choice Act and asking for a meeting to discuss how it can easily be implemented, at no cost to the government.
The underlying support for such an act is already in place in the Westminster Parliament, with over 60% of The Labour Party MP’s telling YouGov in May 2024 that they support the need for legislation to guarantee that the British public can spend their cash - their £’s - whenever they choose.
Those MP’s now have the power to deliver what they could only wish for whilst in opposition.
By this time next week, every new MP in Westminster will have heard from the Payment Choice Alliance.
The Alliance is committed to seeing a UK Payment Choice Act in place by the end of 2025 at the latest.
