LINK Cash Access Work Merely Window Dressing!

This is NOT protecting access to cash - its little more than window dressing!

LINK have done 1173 “assessments” of communities left without banks in one year and only “recommended” 86 Banking Hubs!

Which means in only 7% of cases are communities getting Banking Hubs.

This is NOT properly protecting access to cash - it’s little more than Window Dressing!

Why is this happening?

Because the process STARTS with the objective of ensuring no more than the 350 Banking Hubs the banks have promised the Labour Government by 2029 are actually recommended.

The Government has been CONNED.

Economic Secretary to the Treasury Lucy Rigby KC MP might like to spare some time, after her numerous recent get-togethers with bank mouthpiece UK Finance at the disgracefully “cashless” Labour Party Conference, to focus on the REAL issues facing cash. For example, the Minister might reflect on submissions made by the Payment Choice Alliance and associated organisations to HM Treasury, which clarify precisely what needs to be to done to guarantee the convenient cash access and acceptance that 40 Million British adults have made clear they WANT.

Those submissions include the need for at least 1200 Banking Hubs, one for each community with less that 35,000 residents left without a bank branch. Those Banking Hubs need to have 24/7 cash access via ATMs and automated cash deposit and coin issuance facilities.

Lucy Rigby might also pay heed to the fact 97% of MPs told YouGov in July 2025 that they believe that EVERY community that loses its last bank branch should automatically be given a Banking Hub with a 24/7 ATM.

Who are we to disagree?

2026 in the UK is going to be a year of GENUINE action on both cash access and acceptance.

The time for window dressing is OVER.

FOREVER.
