This is meant to be a trial of cash transfers in the UK, where recipients are given cash and decide how they spend it to best help themselves and their families.
But here is a quote from the article:
“They [Greater Change] do not make direct transfers to avoid benefits being stopped due to a cash influx.”
So it’s not really a cash transfer at all…
The reality is that there is no need to “test” cash transfers in the UK.
They have been proven to work around the planet. There is absolutely no reason they won’t work in the UK.
As for benefits being stopped, is it really beyond the ingenuity of the Department of Work and Pensions to ensure 180 named individuals are not penalised because they receive “trial” cash transfers?
If it is, what kind of personalised service is ANY benefit recipient getting……
