Stay Calm - and Guarantee Cash Access AND Acceptance!

Posted on: 29/09/2025

Absolutely brilliant research work by the European Central Bank on the enduring importance of cash.

The Bank of England will be viewing this research with envy - and great interest. I love this quote:

“This crisis-driven demand for cash stems from its fundamental attributes: it offers distinct psychological and practical utility, explaining its well-documented global staying power.”

THE “STAYING POWER” OF CASH IS 2500 YEARS AND COUNTING- AND, AS REVEALED BY THE ECB, THE LEGEND GROWS EACH DAY, IN EVERY WAY.

What is important to make clear, however, is that cash can only save the day in times of crisis if it it always conveniently accessible AND accepted.

Every one of the UK’s closest European neighbours has recognised this and the Payment Choice Alliance is hammering on the door of 10 Downing Street to ensure the Prime Minister understands that cash is vital to securing the future of the UK AND a DEMANDED choice by the 71% of British adults - OVER 40 MILLION PEOPLE - who want a law passed to guarantee they can use their cash, where and when they choose.

Let EVERYBODY understand - HM Treasury Bank of England Financial Conduct Authority Payment Systems Regulator - there can NEVER be an acceptable digital replacement for cash!

Why?

BECAUSE THE BRITISH PUBLIC DO NOT WANT CASH REPLACED.

If the “National Payments Vision” is released and does not properly cover a viable long-term future for convenient - NOT “reasonable” ( the HM Treasury weasel word from 2023) - access to cash AND GUARANTEED acceptance, the “Vision” will be RIDICULED - and those who are responsible for it must personally face the music.

No one gets to be “faceless” anymore - anyone who ignores the wishes of the British public must take personal responsibility for their error and arrogance.

THE GLOVES ARE OFF.

And when the battle for Payment Choice is won, it won’t be the British public flat out on the canvas!
