This is HUGE news from Jersey! Read the full article here
On 27 March 2026, the Jersey Parliament has voted that businesses MUST accept cash. Although Jersey is not part of the UK, Jersey residents ARE British citizens. Last week Sweden - the former poster-child of the ‘cashless’ dictators - joined the long list of countries in Europe that have given their citizen’s the right to use their cash, when and where they choose.
AND NOW JERSEY HAS JOINED THAT LIST!
Meantime, the current UK Government simply repeats the failures of the previous discredited administration by doing absolutely ZERO.
This is completely unacceptable and untenable given the numerous precedents set by the UK’s neighbours, including France, Ireland, The Netherlands and Spain - AND NOW EVEN JERSEY! Why do the British public deserve less rights than the citizens of ALL of our near neighbours? Why does the British pound - the only Payment System the UK owns and controls - not deserve the same protections in terms of acceptance as the Euro, the Swedish krona and, now, the Jersey pound?
The Payment Choice Alliance will be writing to Prime Minister Starmer to demand IMMEDIATE action. All supporters of the Alliance are urged to contact their own MPs to do the same! Brits living in the UK must no longer be treated as second class citizens!

How absolutely brilliant! Read the full article here
The Swedish government has submitted a bill to parliament that requires grocery stores and pharmacies to accept cash.
‘CASHLESS’ is DEAD in Sweden!
And why?
Because the Government has realised that a ‘cashless’ Sweden cannot be fully inclusive or completely resilient.
The same, of course, is absolutely true of the UK!
Time for Sir Kier Starmer and the Rt Hon Rachel Reeves to discover the wisdom and good sense of the Swedish Government and to bring in legislation making the acceptance of cash obligatory in the UK.
This will not cause an issue for the majority of businesses in the UK. A LINK Scheme Ltd survey revealed a couple of weeks ago that 77% of UK buisnesses continue to accept cash, although that percentage is decreasing fast.
Far fewer businesses in Sweden currently accept cash BUT the Swedish Government does not consider that an obstacle for their legislation.
The British Government clearly has even less reason to be concerned in this respect! So just get on with it Prime Minister! The British public are growing VERY impatient with your procrastination - and so are Payment Choice Alliance!

The first UK plastic card - the Barclaycard - was first issued in 1966. That was also the year England won the football World Cup. It is perhaps hard to understand why England haven’t won the World Cup for 60 years. However, what is MUCH harder to understand is why it has taken the UK banks and their chums Visa and Mastercard 60 years to develop ‘national common accessibility guidelines for flat printed payment cards’.
There are nearly 17 million British residents with disabilities. Why did it take 60 years for those people to be recognised as worthy of consideration?
AND WHY NOW?
That is easy to answer.
It is happening because the UK banks are working with the British Government to try to impose the awful ‘cashless’ on the UK public by 2030.
This would make the avaricious UK banks even more money than they already squeeze out of the long-suffering British public - and HM Treasury thinks that they can engineer yet another big tax grab, by depriving the 99% plus of the British public who are honest, decent citizens of the right to choose to use their cash.
In an attempt to get away with this dictatorial approach to governing the British public, a huge effort is being expended to create the false impression that everyone can be happily ‘included’ in a UK dominated by cards and apps.
THEY CANNOT.
Even if the technology would work resiliently - which is will never do - there are many members of the British public quite able to use cards and smart phones who do not WANT to give up their CHOICE - their RIGHT - to use cash.
Very happy, of course, to see those with disabilities offered the feasible option to use cards - BUT not to have that option becomes an imposition.
EVERYONE is entitled to be able to CHOOSE to pay using cash.
The UK Government needs to stop pandering to the greedy banks and follow the rest of Europe by legally protecting the RIGHT of the British public to use their cash, when and where they CHOOSE. NOW. IN 2026.

THANK YOU.
The Payment Choice Alliance, founded in 2014 and relaunched in 2023, is a campaigning organisation committed to ensuring the right of the British public to use cash is safeguarded by the passing of a Payment Choice Act.
The Act would give everyone in the UK the right to use their cash, when and where they choose.
The Payment Choice Alliance, which is run by committed volunteers, is also focused on ensuring every community in the UK has convenient cash withdrawal and deposit facilities. The provision of such facilities, along with the legal obligation of businesses to accept cash, will ensure cash remains a viable Payment Choice for the British public for as long as they want to use it.
