24/7 ATMS ARE THE ONLY WAY TO GUARANTEE CONVENIENT CASH ACCESS!
Posted on: 02/02/202619,000 free-to-use ATMs lost in the UK since 1 January 2018, after LINK, funded by the big UK banks, unilaterally decided in 2017 that there were too many ATMs in the UK That’s means around SEVEN ATMS have been ripped out EVERY SINGLE DAY.
The British public have been robbed of genuinely convenient 24/7 cash access - because ATMs are the only way such access can be provided.
Ron Delnevo, the Alliance Chair, predicted this would happen when he spoke to the BBC in 2017, only to be told by Victoria Cleland at the Bank of England that he was scaremongering!
Ron was NOT scaremongering- he was telling the TRUTH!
Others should try that sometime …
The British Government needs to step in NOW - in 2026 - to create a specific Cash Regulator, a Regulator that has the authority to guarantee that cash supply, via ATMs AND every other channel, is properly funded by UK banks AND to oblige all businesses to accept cash for in-person purchases.
