Universal “Cashless” UK Parking App to Allow the Imposition of a New Stealth Tax on Motorists?

Posted on: 08/04/2024

Reading between the lines of this article, the new UK Universal Parking App is going to be used to push up parking revenue - a new method to impose what amounts to a “Stealth Tax” to penalise already hard-pressed motorists.

There are currently only 300,000 paid for car parking spaces in the UK, earning Local Authorities a horrifying £2 Billion a year.

Why not double the number of paid for parking spaces - and double this tax on motorists to £4 Billion a year?

It will be easy to do when the Universal Parking App is operational.

A couple of new signs with QR codes in every new paid for parking street added.

Hey presto, the long-suffering British public can pay through the App

No price increase needed.

Just add more streets to those covered by the App.

With 40 million vehicles in the UK paying on average only £50 a year, increasing this to £100 would deliver a massive that extra £2 Billion each year to Local Authorites.

Just another tax?

Of course - and one facilitated by the move to “cashless” parking.

Don’t worry though, drivers.

This parking “stealth tax” will be curtailed by a UK Payment Choice Act before the end of 2025!
