Last week, we had the Chair of the Office of Budget Responsibility celebrating the mythical “death of cash” and now “Bank of England researchers” nonsensically claiming “contactless” is best for budgeting.
Don’t for even one moment think this is a coincidence.
The “authorities” are rattled by the strength of
the British publics support for cash and they will be firing out misinformation regularly in an increasingly desperate attempt to undermine that support.
The problem for the “authorities” is that no one believes them anymore. They would be struggling to get one star on Trust Pilot..
Every time such pronouncements are made in 2024, the Payment Choice Alliance will be challenging them.
Before long, of course, the misinformation will stop. Those releasing it will realise the games up and further fiction would be fruitless.
The British public - the voters who will elect their new government in 2024 - deserve much better.
And they ARE going to get it.
