The Irish Public Want Permanent Legal Protection Of Cash Acceptance

Posted on: 29/04/2024

The Irish Government asks the public and discovers that there is overwhelming support for the legal protection of cash use.

The Irish government has put in place regulations that compel businesses to accept cash - and more is to come to guarantee the long-term future of cash in the UK’s nearest neighbours.

When did the UK government or any of its departments - such as HM Treasury - ask the same question?

Or the Bank of England? Or the Payment Systems Regulator? Or the Financial Conduct Authority?

Or the bank trade association, UK Finance?

NEVER.

The truth is that they don’t ask the question because they don’t want to hear the answer.

The Payment Choice Alliance asked the question via YouGov last year - and the views of the British public were EXACTLY the same as the public in the only country with which the UK has a land border.

71% of the British public want a law put in place to guarantee they can use their cash, when and where they please.

Amongst The Conservative Party voters the figure was 80%.

The Payment Choice Alliance asked the question because we had no fear of the answer we would get.

And make no mistake.

ALL the politicians in the UK know what the UK public want in the relation to legal protection of cash use - because the Payment Choice Alliance has TOLD them.

So those in currently in power - and those who hope to be in power later this year - need to start listening.

Because the British public will NOT accept their clear wishes being ignored.

And nor will the Payment Choice Alliance
